Bratislava is a city where history and modern times meet to create a specific atmosphere of one unique place. The capital of Slovakia is visited all year round not only by Slovak but also by foreign tourists. Although the most famous sights and attractions of Bratislava include the dominant Bratislava Castle, or the controversial-looking UFOs, you will also find many other places worth visiting.

 

1. Bratislava Castle

As already mentioned, the dominant feature of Bratislava is Bratislava Castle, which played an important role in the past and today. Perched on a parallel bar next to the mighty Danube, it is hard not to notice this monument. With four inverted towers, it is often nicknamed the Inverted Table. Do you agree with this statement?

2. Dome of St. Martin, Bratislava

Dome of St. Martina is the largest and most famous church in Bratislava. It impresses you at first sight. In addition to tourists, the church was also liked by the Austro-Hungarian ruler Maria Theresa, who was crowned here. Last but not least, a small crown should be mentioned, boasting at the top of the church tower. Do you find this crown small? 3. Čumil, Bratislava Old town

One of the most famous attractions in the old town of Bratislava is a cheerful statue named Čumil. This funny gentleman sticking his head out of the canal on Panská Street is supposed to depict a worker who prefers to admire passing ladies instead of working. After all, he had to get the name Čumil somehow. Its author is the academic painter and sculptor Viktor Hulík.

4. Hviezdoslav Square

Hviezdoslav Square is the largest square in Bratislava. At its end is the Slovak National Theater. Christmas markets are held here in December, and an ice rink is open for families with children. Next to it is the Eugen Suchoň Square, where you will find the Slovak Philharmonic.

5. UFO, Bratislava

At a height of 95 meters you will find in Bratislava one very untraditional viewing platform. The UFO observation tower is located on the banks of the Danube and offers views up to a distance of 100 kilometers. You can get up by lift in just 45 seconds, and the UFO offers, in addition to a viewing platform, a rotating café with an equally beautiful view.

6. Plague Column, Bratislava

The Plague Column on Rybný náměstí serves as a reminder of the plague that struck the city at the beginning of the 18th century. During the tour of Bratislava, it is not possible to omit this column and not notice it, as it is located next to the SNP bridge, the dome of St. Martin and borders the spacious Hviezdoslav Square.

7. Blue Church, Bratislava

The Blue Church is undoubtedly the most beautiful church in Bratislava and certainly one of the most beautiful in Slovakia. Tourists love it mainly because of its characteristic blue color and also like visitors who do not like church visits as a rule.

8. Slavín

Slavín is a memorial for fallen Soviet soldiers during World War II. world war. It is located at the top of the hill, from where you can enjoy a nice view of the whole city. 10. The Presidential Palace, Bratislava

Bratislava, as the capital city, performs various administrative functions of the state. By this term we mean that there are several corporate headquarters, as well as the Slovak Parliament and the Presidential Palace. This palace is otherwise known as Grasalkovičov Palace and is located on Hodžovo Square.

11. Apollo Bridge, Bratislava

Most Apollo is the most characteristic bridge of this city. This steel structure towering over the Danube River was built in 2005 and is the newest bridge in the city.

12. Butterfly House

The Butterfly House is a truly remarkable structure, located just a short distance from the main station.
