It is raining outside, the sun is setting for the fourth time, you are constantly cold and the only thing I think about is the beach and the sea. Are you in the same position? Then you certainly have cheap air tickets at your fingertips and think about your next trip. That’s exactly what happened in the fall of 2019 and I couldn’t resist a small trip to Sardinia. But was it really a good decision to go to this Italian island in the fall? Can Sardinia serve as an escape from the autumn depression?
As soon as I and Adam (my amazing boyfriend) have found cheap flight tickets to Sardinia we decided to visit this glorious island. We were looking forward to the sun, beach, sea and palm trees. However, our plan turned out differently than we expected. It was raining for up to 3 days from four days in Sardinia. And it was raining, I don’t think it rained. It really poured in. One day we had beautiful sunny weather, which we also used for 20 km hiking in the nearby mouse. This day was truly beautiful, and the joy of it surpassed even the depressed rain. But later. What experiences have we really learned from autumn Sardinia?
As we later learned, such weather is not common in the autumn in Sardinia. On the contrary. Sardinia is usually sunny in autumn or even winter. We also looked at the weather in other holiday destinations where it was raining as well, so we decided that only Mother Nature was playing with the weather a little bit, but under slightly more favorable circumstances it is a good idea to visit Sardinia in the fall.
Transport
Transport in Sardinia works up to several bus delays quite well. We took the bus from the airport as the taxi from Alghero to Alghera costs over 20 euros and we travel low cost! We also bought some metro tickets, but in the end we didn’t use them at all and so we still have room to use them during our next visit to Sardinia. Of course, it is a good idea to plan your trips in advance and find out what connections you need to take. For this I recommend the great site rometorio.com. This site has always advised me abroad well, is quite easy and well-arranged.
Port city of Alghero with nice beaches
Do Algera flies regular flights from Bratislava and you can buy tickets really for a buck. We also stayed here directly and that’s why we examined Alghero the most. The port town of Alghero lies in the northwest of the island and is one of the most beautiful cities in Sardinia. This pleasant Italian town was perfect for a romantic walk, but ATTENTION! In the evening, we are just vainly looking for a place where we could have some snacks and eat well. Only after a long search, we found a reliable restaurant there, but even there the food prices were quite high. However, I would like to point out once again that Sardinia is different in the autumn and different in the summer, when it is swarming with tourists and I have no doubt that there are many restaurants and restaurants open in the evenings.
I remembered it as a contrast to Majorca, where I wanted to sit down with Adam in the evening, but there was loud music everywhere, and there was a dikotek in full swing in the businesses. Well, we were in Mallorca in February. Why it wasn’t so in Sardinia when we just needed it I don’t know anymore. ?
Romantic village called Bosa- Sardinia is typical for its serpentines..
Village named Bosa is a colourful village only an hour by bus from Alghero. As the right travellers, we wanted to visit this famous place. An hour’s journey, that’s nothing. BUT! The journey goes through steep serpentines and a weaker stomach (as I am) recommend to pack some kinedryl (pill against nausea) in the luggage. If we knew about it soon, we wouldn’t have to breathe half the day of the day. In any case, Bosa was beautiful. This village played in all possible colours and can be described as a real wonder of Sardinia. Too bad it was raining again. I can imagine that this place would be even more beautiful on a sunny day.
Sardinia does not only have sandy beaches, you will also find green here
Would you believe that only a short walk from Bosnia we found a really interesting beach. I am not saying that this beach is somehow very worthy of visiting it not. What was really interesting about it was that it was green. On a busy day she seemed like a psychological movie. If you plan to break up in Bosa for longer and the colourful houses will get tired of you, then go to this beach .

Who would have said that Sardinia is perfect for hiking
Honestly, neither me nor Adam would have thought to hike in Sardinia. We thank our neighbors for hotels for this great idea. It was a friendly married couple from the Czech Republic, whom we met at breakfast and talked us, so to speak, to have a hike to a nearby cape. However, this nearby Capo Caccia was far away! We came by bus. He carried tourists there who wanted to visit the cave Neptun’s Grotte. From there we walked along the cape back to Alghero. We went for me 22 km long but I will tell you, the view that has come to us was worth it! Indeed, judge for yourself:
Sardinia as the place of our first hitchhiking
We decided to hitchhike the car for the first time in our lives. I had a very good reason for that. As our hotel neighbors of the Czechs spoke to us on the above mentioned long hike, we pedaled them to the cape called Capo Caccia and our dear Czechs were fully determined to step on my tastes truly 27 km a day. Adam and I decided to accompany them on this road 22 km and then disconnect. But we have encountered one serious problem. There were no buses! So how do we get back? And we had to step on. But the pain in my legs increased, so I suggested we try hitchhiking. Well, we just pedaled the first pole for an hour, and ready with the thumbs up we cut every single car. But no one stopped. Every Italian smiled pleasantly and went on.
Only after that long hour of an hour we finally stopped our car. They were two young girls and they immediately started talking to us. It didn’t take long and we found out that the only people who stopped us were the Nightingales! More precisely, two young pretty Slovaks living in Sardinia. We found that they moved there together and opened a tour. Purely for fun, we exchanged contacts with them and looked at their website. I refer to their website mackytourz.cz, which is otherwise perfectly done and the girls offer tours to the festivals, to the mountains, to all the beautiful places in Sardinia and it is worth a look at it. So in the end, not only did we get to Alghero because of hitchhiking, but we also met great people. For me, hitchhiking has a thumbs up!
As we almost missed the plane
The last chapter of our extended weekend is the way to the airport. After heavy rains there were big floods in the city and the bus to the airport was late for an hour. The bus station was cold, wet and the woman outside the window, who was selling tickets in English, could not speak. So when I wanted to ask her a number for a taxi, she just gave me that the cabs don’t come here (How please ?!) Well, after a long and uncomfortable waiting, the bus finally got out and we got on. The plane was supposed to fly 10:05. We were still on the bus by 9:57. Eventually we just flew through the airport and by the time we reached boarding, boarding was already underway, but fortunately we managed to get everything and we boarded the plane.
