Egypt is a popular destination for vacationers and there are several reasons why it is worth visiting this country. Egypt offers relaxation on the beach, snorkeling in one of the most beautiful seas in the world and one of the 7 wonders of the world! Step back in time and experience ancient monuments in the Sahara desert. Here are 8 reasons why Egypt is worth visiting.
Many people like to go to Egypt also because, unlike many European destinations, it is financially very affordable. For a relatively low price, you can go to 5-star resorts with All inclusive here. You would pay twice as much for the same services in Greece or Spain. The 3 most visited places with holiday resorts include Marsa Alam, Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. Where you choose depends mainly on your preferences. While the pyramids are located in the north near Cairo, Luxor is about in the middle of the country where there are also Hurghada and Marsa Alam. If the pyramids are a priority for you, stay in Sharm el-Sheikh. But if you prefer the sea and snorkeling, you will have the best experience in Marsa Alam.

1. Pyramids – One of the 7 wonders of the world
If you ever want to see one of the 7 wonders of the world, this is your only chance. The Pyramids of Giza are the last standing wonder of the world. And if you have ever heard of the Great Wall of China or the Indian Taj Mahal as the wonders of the world, that is not entirely correct. These are the modern wonders of the world, which you can visit, but only the pyramids remain of the truly original ones. The pyramids are up to 4500 years old, and the fact that they were able to build such impressive monuments so long ago is very respectable. In addition to the pyramids, you will also see the Sphinx here, which is an equally stunning experience.
2. Snorkeling
Coral reefs in the Red Sea are considered one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world. It is therefore a perfect place for divers and snorkelers. They are characterized by great diversity and abundance of other animals. You don’t even have to go far into the sea to see animals. Already near the shores, you have the opportunity to see various colored fish, octopuses, moray eels, rays and, in rare cases, sharks or dolphins.
3. Jeep Safari
This experience is definitely for desert lovers. From your holiday resort, you have the opportunity to go to the Sahara desert, where a jeep will drive you over the sand dunes. It’s really fun. The program often includes a visit to a Bedouin settlement. Although these settlements are usually dependent on the arrival of tourists and therefore it cannot be said that their life there is one hundred percent authentic, you will learn more about their life there. There are probably around 5 million Bedouins living in Egypt (the exact number is difficult to estimate, as Bedouins have no documents and are therefore not registered anywhere), and such a trip will give you an insight into the alternative life of some people not only in Egypt, but also in other Arab countries.
4. Swimming with dolphins
One of the experiences that you really won’t regret is swimming with dolphins. But, I’m talking here about swimming with dolphins in the open sea and not in aquariums where dolphins live in captivity and suffer. I went on such a trip through Viator and I must say that I was very satisfied. We came across the dolphins after about a 20-minute boat ride and swam with them for a few minutes. The dolphins were not afraid at all, so we got very close to them. If you are not a good swimmer, you will be offered a life jacket, so this experience is completely suitable for families with children.
5. Luxor – in the footsteps of antiquity
Luxor was recently named the best open-air museum in the world. There are important monuments from ancient times and the museum has a truly historical atmosphere. It is located in the Nile Valley and tourists can see other monuments in its vicinity. There is the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Valley of the Kings, but on the way, you can also see the real, unfortunately, ordinary life in the low valley. Travel agencies usually offer day trips to all these destinations and for me, it was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. If you would like to learn more about Egyptian life and traditions in the Nile Valley, I recommend the article Poverty in Egypt.
6. Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings is every traveler’s dream. After all, Tutankhamun’s tomb is located here, and people know this magnificent place from various adventure films. This archaeological monument is absolutely the most famous in the world, so if you are already in Egypt, you simply have to visit this place.
7. Quad bikes – driving in the desert
Riding quad bikes is an experience for children and adults alike. It is a great opportunity to experience the real Sahara. Driving the quad bikes itself is super fun, and if you don’t want a quad bike, you can usually choose a buggy as well. Of course, it is also necessary to pay attention to safety during such driving. There are cases of death on four-wheelers, and children under the age of 16 should not drive themselves. It is, therefore, necessary to carefully listen to the safety instructions before driving, and then you can finally enjoy the ride.
8. Rest on the beach
People go to Egypt for experiences, and monuments, but also for relaxation. Egypt has beautiful sandy beaches and it would be a shame not to relax on vacation with a good book and a drink in hand. Places with the most beautiful beaches include Marsa Alam, Hurghada, and Sharm el-Sheikh. While the pyramids are located in the north near Cairo, Luxor is in the middle of the country where there are also Hurghada and Marsa Alam. If the pyramids are a priority for you, stay in Sharm el-Sheikh. But if you prefer the sea and snorkeling, you will have the best experience in Marsa Alam.
