Italy is not the only country where you will find Venice. In France there is a picturesque town called Port Grimaud. It is no coincidence that its architecture is reminiscent of Venice. The birth of this marvelous place is the architect François Spoerry, who wanted to create a place like Venice, but with traditional French houses. Fortunately, this project has been a huge success, as evidenced by the fact that Port Grimaud is one of the most visited places in France.
Traditional French houses
The vast majority of houses are painted turquoise or pink. The owners of these precious properties take great care of them. After all, the prices of the local houses correspond to their value. If one of the little houses has captivated you so much that you would like to buy it, you have to dig deep into your pocket. Even the smallest houses cost a few million, yes, millions of euros.
As the place is full of canals, just like Venice, you will find many beautiful yachts and boats. One of the many famous personalities who decided to invest in one of the traditional French houses is the American actor Anthony Hopkins. I do not mention Mr. Hopkins not only because of his great acting performance, but because I was in Port Grimaud just when this Hollywood legend was there. While we were on a small boat beside his house, I was lucky to see him walking through my garden. Unfortunately, I couldn’t say his face was very sharp. In any case, it was a great experience.
Port Grimaud as one of the most beautiful places in France
I have seen many photos from Port Grimaud as an instagram on social networks. Although I knew the name of the place, for some unknown reason I did not know the exact location, so I did not even know that such a place is located in France. I visited him, so to speak, by chance. During one trip to the French Riviera, where we had priority to visit Nice, Monaco, Cannes and Saint Tropez. Thank you very much to the guide for taking us here.
