Many people associate Italy with vivacious people, tasty pizza or spaghetti, but that is certainly not all. This article describes 8 beautiful places, which are a great decoration of Italy and do not need to delay their visit.
1. Venice
Do you want to try a gondola cruise on the Grand Canal? To see the famous Cathedral of St. Mark or Ponte de Rialto? Or experience the Venetian Carnival? Venice is an easily accessible destination for the Slovaks and is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Italy.
2. Cinque Terre
Perhaps everyone has seen pictures of beautiful colorful houses on rocky cliffs. However, few know that there are 5 Italian villages called Cinque Teere. Many rankings rank them not only among the most beautiful places of Italy, but even the whole world.
3. Rome
Of course, the capital of Italy, Rome, along with the Vatican, where, besides historical monuments, you can see the Pope himself during Sunday Mass, has many monuments. For example, the Church of Sts. Peter’s Cathedral, Trevi Fountain, Angel’s Castle and many more are worth a visit.
4. San Marino
San Marino is a country in the State of Italy. It is a very developed and rich country, which also boasts a beautiful castle. There are also various museums such as. a museum of torture or a museum of curiosities.
5. Florence
If you value art, Florence is something for you. It is also known as the cradle of the Renaissance, as it is the birthplace of many artists, which is also reflected in local buildings and culture. You will find monuments such as the Ponte Vecchio, the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore or perhaps the most famous statue of the world – the statue of David.
6. Pisa
Who would not know the Leaning Tower of Pisa. As it leans more and more, albeit a few inches, it attracts tourists from all over the world. Especially it must be visited until it falls!
7. Milan
Finally, there is a city of fashion. In Milan, however, there is also the admirable Cathedral of Milan, or the painting of the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. But if you want to relax a bit, you can enjoy a concert at the world-famous La Scala Opera or shopping at the Vittorio Emanulle II Gallery.
8. Alberobello
Alberobello is a romantic village located in the south of Italy in the region of Puglia. It is characterized by its unique architecture. You will find many simple houses with conical roofs, which have great historical significance. These so-called trulli houses were always demolished in the past before the arrival of royal control, so the region avoided paying property taxes. Fortunately, trulli houses are now valid for the UNESCO World Heritage and there will be no more demolition.
